This is a replica of a Steel sword breaker designed by John Barnett to museum quality, it was made to match the Swept Hilt rapier. This type of sword falls under the category of the parrying dagger, this is small handheld weapons from the European late Middle Ages and eary Renaissance. They were used as off-hand weapons in conjunction with a single handed sword such as the swept hilt rapier. As the name implies, this sword was maded to defend more effectively than a simple dagger, it usually incoporated a wider guard and other defensive features that helped to protect the hand better.
